Update January 2023

Important: The Emergency Registration Guidance will end on the 28th February 2023. This guidance refers to the use of video calls to verify a persons’ identity, introduced to support activity during the pandemic.

The only approved ways for creating a digital identity after this date will be via the Apply for Care ID app or a Face to Face appointment.

What this means to you:

  • As of 1st March 2023 the RA Service will no longer be able to complete ID checks via MS Teams Video call.
  • Staff will only be able to have their ID checked by a trained ID Checker, the Apply for Care ID app or a face to face appointment with our RA team.

What can I do now?

  • If you do not already have ID checkers in place then we would advise that these are nominated to be trained and set up prior to 1st March 2023. This will enable your organisation to check ID documents and create Smartcard user profiles on site.
  • You will need to be an RA Sponsor before you can become an ID checker.
  • You can request for a member of staff to become a Sponsor & ID Checker by completing the ‘Sponsor & ID Checker Training’ form on the IT self service portal.
  • Available training dates:

25th January Sponsor Training

26th January ID Checker Training

22nd February Sponsor Training

23rd February ID Checker Training

Benefits of the Apply for Care ID app & ID Checkers

  • Apply for Care ID app can be used as an alternative to face-to-face registrations providing that the user has a work email address (NHS or other CIS allow listed email domain)
  • The staff member can upload their own ID documents to the app and it’s then verified & approved by NHS Digital.
  • ID Checkers or the Apply for Care ID app will prevent the need to travel to Norwich Community Hospital to have a face to face appointment with our RA Team.
